I am a driver. Sometimes uber takes 50% revenue. Usually takes 25-33%. Take in account how long he drove to you. I'm sure he made more than uber x though. I totally get what you are saying though. For me to down rate someone it takes a LOT! He might of hit the wrong button too. Sometimes if you are rating and a ride cones in, you get kick out of that screen.
10 Reasons Uber Kicks Ass
I want to add I had the most amazing uber driver. She went above and beyond and she is very professional. She doesn't get paid enough. This woman was not only sweet however funny as well. She made my ride so much fun. I wish I could give her a rating of 100 stars and that's not enough. Her name is Angela Bohanan she drives in Tennessee and she drives a 2022 Kia soul red...
I hope the author reads this. I'm 99% sure that uber doesn't update your rating immediately. I also believe they do so in bunches to protect individuals from disclosing their information. As a passenger I have only ever given 5 stars and as a driver 3 times I gave less than 5 stars. If you rate a 3 or below you won't get paired again. As for tipping, does a waitress expect a tip?...

A hairdresser? A cab driver? Of course they all do, as do uber drivers. Now in reality we know we don't always get tipped, in fact I can pretty much guess out of any 10 rides who would tip or not and I'd be right probably 8 or more of those times. My final thought about this is that I would guess that a much larger percentage of people tip taxi drivers over uber drivers and I know that lyft passengers tip more often than uber passengers.
I'm uber driver 2 years with close to 4k rides I have had a 5.0 rating for the longest time .just recently I had 2 people give me a 1 star and I have over 1500 5star ratings . My rating is now 4.98 . Let me tell you the reason that bothers me it because I'm the type of person that goes above and beyond for all the strangers I meet and I try...
I'm uber driver 2 years with close to 4k rides I have had a 5.0 rating for the longest time .just recently I had 2 people give me a 1 star and I have over 1500 5star ratings . My rating is now 4.98 . Let me tell you the reason that bothers me it because I'm the type of person that goes above and beyond for all the strangers I meet and I try to spread positivity and well manners to anyone . First off I keep my car exceptionally clean . I greet everyone and say hello how are doing and greet all as if they enter my home . When please ask to stop at store or to wait for them I always do and when people want to converse I chat anything when passengers engage I tell them to have a great day and wish them well on their endeavors. I listen and give any motivational or empowering words and for the most part everyone is receptive to my positive energy. When I rate passenger all my 4k plus I a have always giving them all 5 star even tho there has been 1or 2 individuals that I wanted to 1 star . But I haven't and probably won't why well when you do good , when you have good intentions , when you care , and you live your live with positivity and you have good karma that energy stays with you where ever u go. When you Wish well upon others is nice to say but when you actually mean it that's how it starts and you take it from there your a gentleman to all that you meet your greet you have respect and manner to all you make yourself serviceable and courteous and considerate of others wishes . Also when people are drunk and disrespectful which happens 1 outta 100 or mayb 2 outta 50. It's always good to diffuse the situation. If anyone reads this just be positive have that mentality and the world will send you the same energy you spread right back . Always Speak powerful words that are enlightening that are motivational that are assuring that are embracing always speak respectful and that mantra will manifest and show you that life is great not always perfect and sometimes enduring . Being thankful and grateful is Don . Being correct and trying to do right is a plight no one is perfect .
I proudly do not care. Uuber drivers and riders can fight amoungest each other. You're part time job killed a career. And your cheap butt killed an industry. You're all equally just awful. Have a great day.
As an Uber driver I am OK with not being tipped. (A 5 star rating is much more important to me.) Yeah it is a bit frustrating when you go the extra mile.Example: I always get out of my car and help when I see luggage or I pick someone up at the grocery store. Sometimes people will not even say "thanks" That's just plain rude. Then there are the customers you do extra favors for (like stopping at the dispensary or stopping at the store for them without making them add that stop in the app) and they promise you a big tip......You may be surprised that 90% end up leaving $0 or a dollar. These are the people that put an end to me doing favors. All riders now must add a stop if they want to stop on their way home.I am never in a foul mood while I drive. If I wake up on the wrong side of the bed I lose that s#!t attitude before I drive. My car is always clean, I don't drive like a maniac, am not a hothead and don't let other drivers who are driving silly, do not speed and always check to make sure my riders are comfy and the trip is going well. I can tell which riders are not into chatting 30 seconds in to the ride. So I just ask if they have a music preference, turn up the tunes to a comfortable level and keep my mouth shut. A few people still find their way to giving me a low rating after being cordial ( I have a 4.99 rating and am up to 1468 rides this cycle and am platinum. Bottom line: if your driver gives you great service please rate accordingly. I mean if your driver really deserve a 2, 3, 4 star by all means. Give that. But please leave a comment why and don't low rate us for something that is out of our control ( surge pricing, you put your pick up address as your destination and now the price has went up $30(yes it happens all the time), you have to wait a while for a driver because we are doing another ride and there are no other drivers available etc. ) Uber will remove low ratings that are beyond the drivers control.. We do not always see feedback. But remember....Some drivers can manipulate the system into waiting to see what you rate them. If they rate you a 1 or 2 star you may very well find your uber account deactivated (rarely do drivers get deactivated for a low rating. Especially now with a very serious driver shortage) I have only rated 1 passenger below a 5 star. Even if you're a dick. People have bad days and I am not going to punish them for that. Nor will I low rate you if you do not give me a tip. I don't know your financial situation and you may need every dollar. I get that. As I said before....Your 5 star rating is much more important and I will always do my best to make sure you have a great experience and not leave my vehicle traumatized.Hope this helps. Thanks for reading and Happy Ubering from Portland, Oregon (Remember... It's OR-GUN. Not OR-EE-GONE OHHH YEAH...ALSO IT'S WASH-ING-TUN.....NOT WARSH-IN-TUN. There is no R. I assure you)
I can't believe I'm resurrecting a old thread but this has just happened to me. Goto the uber forum on reddit and these guys actually try to 3 star-1 star people that don't tip and never pick up people under 4.7 because they are generally non tippers. They are trying to thin out the herd of when we need to get picked up.
You do not know if it was that specific driver who rated you, I've gone into my uber app a week later after i was done the ride to rate drivers, there is no time limit as far as I'm aware. Rate according to the trip, nothing else.
As an uber driver I can tell you that we have to rate you the minute you get out of the car or the ride is completed. He would not have known that you didn't tip him. If he didn't deserve a 1 don't give a 1 but give a 4 with communication as the reason. If you rate a driver as a 1 you cannot match with them again so could run in to...

If he didn't deserve a 1 don't give a 1 but give a 4 with communication as the reason. If you rate a driver as a 1 you cannot match with them again so could run in to difficulty in the future. Especially for those of you that live in less populated areas. For drivers saying they give 1 stars over body odor or not liking the short trips. That can fall under community guideline violations so be careful.
To the author first. If he rated you 1 star for no tip immediately after he dropped you off that makes no sense. As a driver, I am prompted to rate pax's as soon as the trip ends and I can't get away from that prompt until I leave a rating for them. Maybe you had B/O and stunk up his car (happens sometimes) or maybe he was tired or not really looking and he hit the 1 star by accident. Who knows? As to his demeanor, maybe you were taking a short ride and he's sick as fuck from all the short trips he's getting that day. Second, to all the asshole pax's here who say they never tip and complain about the "tipping culture" let me ask you. Dont you almost always leave a tip for a cab driver? In my area rideshare drivers are considered a taxi service. Take note that driving for uber consists of a lot of short trips. I had someone go only 1/4 of a mile, it was like $2.85 and no tip. Now what happens is, as a driver, you go into a que and your next ride might not come for 30 minutes and you most likely are missing out on a more lucrative ride. Congrats! In the eyes of your uber driver you are an asshole pax and deserve that 1*. Now that you know this dont take very short rides unless its an emergency and tell the driver as much, Im sure they will understand. Also, its not always so easy to just find another job where you set your own hours and have some freedom in your working life. Rule of thumb for a pax should be: Always tip if the trip is less than 3 miles and your driver was excellent to awesome, even $1.00 is appreciated. Longer trips not always necessary but hey we wont turn them down ;-) and again if your driver was excellent to awesome leave a tip but also we appreciate positive feedback as well. Be mindful, people do this for a living and they may not have the education or experience to land a higher paying steady income job, its tough out there. Above all, be nice to each other and understanding. Manners are so underrated as well. 2ff7e9595c
